Votive Mass to the Sacred Heart of Jesus - Deo Gratias!
Many thanks to everyone who attended the recent Missa Cantata at the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter the Apostle! The Missa Cantata was celebrated by Fr. Scott Haynes, SJC. The homilist was Fr. Anthony Rice, SJC. Also attending in choir were Fr. Joseph Dyer, Fr. Scott Thomas, and Fr. Matthew Simmons, who assisted with the distribution of communion. Serving at the altar were Dr. Daniel Petrolia (MC); Mr. Wesley Lindsay (thurifer); Mr. Robert Rutherford (crucifer); Mr. William Dukes and Mr. John Robert Marascalco (acolytes); Mr. Andrew Morgan (boat bearer); and Mr. Scott Dejong, Mr. Eddie Morgan, Mr. Matthew Polk, and Mr. Hunter Yerger (torch bearers). The schola cantorum was comprised of Ms. Carleigh Bedell, Ms. Betsy Carraway, Ms. Nina Carraway, Ms. Jennifer Dukes, Ms. Glenda LaGarde, Ms. Suzanne Rutherford, and Ms. Claire Scates. The organ was played by Cathedral Organist, Mr. James Scoggins.

This Mass will mark the end of the Sancta Missa Workshop on the Extraordinary Form of the Mass at the Cathedral led by Fr. Haynes and his counterpart, Fr. Anthony Rice (also of the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius). This workshop is being held for Mississippi priests, as well as any men (youth and adults who have received first communion) interested in learning how to serve at altar.

Activities This Week
First, our schola cantorum / Gregorian Chant study group will be practicing this Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 6:00 PM. Anyone interested in singing and learning Gregorian chant is welcome, no prior experience necessary.
Also, this Friday, March 7, is the First Friday of the month. Thus, we will be attending the 12:05 PM daily Mass at St. Peter's Cathedral together, and go for lunch afterwards. Please join us if you can - we'd love to see you!
